What are you working on now?
As of 2019, I’m working on the next Wayfarers book, plus a pair of novellas in a brand-new setting. I’m really excited about all of them.
I’m writing a book! Should I self-publish, or aim towards traditional publishing?
Whoa, careful with that can of worms! As far as I’m concerned, they’re both great options, and they each have their share of pros and cons. To sum it way up, if you love the idea of orchestrating every part of the publishing process (marketing, layout, production, distribution, etc.), self-publishing might be an awesome fit for you. If you’d prefer to focus your time solely on writing and would prefer to have a team of dedicated professionals handle everything else, traditional publishing is probably a better direction. It really depends on what your goals, strengths, and preferences are. I recommend checking out this article to get a feel for the sorts of questions you should ask yourself before moving forward.
And hey, whatever path you choose, I wish you the very best of luck.
Got any crowdfunding advice?
Have a following — even a little one — before you take the plunge. Be reasonable about your project goal. Be clear and up-front about what you’ll be spending the money on. And, like all things in life, have a Plan B.
